Benji's Centre

About Us

background

Benji’s Centre was founded in 2004. It is a charitable organization providing professional one-on-one speech therapy to children and teenagers with communication problems from low-income families in Hong Kong. Since establishment, the Centre has served over 3,600 children, bridging the gap of the inadequate speech therapy service in the community. We strive to provide service to the needy children before their prime time of six years old, enabling them to integrate into the community happily.

The Centre is named in remembrance of Benjamin Wong, son of the founders of the Centre Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wong. For the sustainability of Benji’s Centre, the founders established the social enterprise Confiserie Benji Limited in 2002, comprising Leonidas Chocolates Shops, La Parole French Restaurant and Shou Zen Japanese Cuisine. All the revenue generated, after deducting necessary expenses, will be in support of Benji’s Centre.

For the first five years, Benji’s Centre relied solely on the support from the social enterprise Confiserie Benji Limited and provided 180 service quota. In meeting the ever growing demand of speech therapy service, with waiting-list regularly exceeded 250, the Centre became member agency of The Community Chest of Hong Kong in 2009 and acquired support from ‘Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged’ and ‘Training Subsidy Programme for Children on the Waiting List of Subvented Pre-school Rehabilitation Services’ from Social Welfare Department.

Our Mission

In partnership with parents, we aim to help children in need of professional speech therapy from low-income families. It is our role, along with the parents to help these children integrate into our society with confidence and adequate communication ability.
